For the past 7 years in a row (skipping the canceled Weisn of 2020 & 2021, of course), I have gone with family and friends. I have been through the region on a couple of other occasions with family. It is a most fabulous time of jovial gatherings and really good freedom of fun. Europe is not uptight like we are about alcohol and parties. They do it right! And Bavaria is one of my favorite gems in the world to visit!
in 2016 I started a fun and quickly growing business: https://northshorebarndoors.com/ This has become full time and it is busy work that I love, but prior to this I worked in travel. I had earned, used, and become quite savvy with promos, hotel points, and airline miles along the way. So, I put trips like this together for myself, family and friends many times whereas I would be enabling all to enjoy such trips for a low rate that made it very doable and practical to go places you otherwise could not always afford or justify. I still do take trips-or at least plan them for virus-free future times...
For 2018, it came to pass that many of the gang could not go for family and work-related reasons that all seemed to compile late in the game. But at the last minute (proving it can be done in some lucky situations), Mr. Oktoberfest and one friend, Mr. Tonner, did in fact fly to Munich on the night of September 25 and we pahtied hahd all day on September 26 and then returned home the evening of September 27 after staying in our favorirte hotel for just one night! It was 53 hrs away from home and what an awesome trip indeed! We figured, hey, people fly to LAX for a 2 day trip and get stuck in airports and don't even get good airline food, and they gotta pay for bags and have awful airline service if any at all. Our trip was perfect and all the Lufthansa flight attendants were young and purdy! hehe. Much better to fly 6-7 hrs over the big pond for an awesome experience, and worth every fast-paced eventful moment! Tonner got bitten by the travel bug and is already working on getting back there next year for a longer stay. He also wore his re-enactment Revolutionary War uniform in lieu of the traditional Oktoberfest Bavarian garb guys like me donned for the extravaganza. He was a hit with the locals. We also brought Larry The Lizard with us for people to drink out of and add to the fun. Larry was a hit in 2019 as well! For more on that, visit this page and go totally sick:
